You know, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever for this flick to officially hit DVD. Night of the Demons 2 is one of those rare surprises. A sequel that’s as good as the original and in some cases, dare I say it, better? I know it’s almost blasphemy to utter those words but I’m telling ya, man — this movie rocks! Well, it’s finally here on DVD and guess what? This package sucks a huge demonic dong.
Before I get into exactly why, allow me to reiterate the story line.
You see it turns out that Angela (the badass she-bitch from the original) had a baby sister. Melissa or Mouse (Kennedy) as she is known is that sibling and she’s been spending her teenage years attending St. Rita’s high school getting treated like an outcast. Once she’s invited to an unofficial Halloween bash at the sinister Hull House the shit hits the fan as Angela (Kinkade) comes back to claim her sisters soul for um … safe keeping maybe? In any event, luckily for Mouse there’s an ass-kicking, nunchaku wielding(!) nun by the name of Sister Gloria (Rhodes) around to set things straight.
From beginning to end Night of the Demons 2 is an absolute blast! Gory, funny, and the perfect treat for a dark and stormy night, it stands as one of my favorite sequels of all time.
This film and us fans deserve better than this. Maybe one day someone will come to their senses and release a definitive edition of this way underrated flick. Anchor Bay if you’re reading … I’m on bended knee.
Oh well. At least I can get rid of my DVDr. *sigh*
