Instead we’ve just been getting words from the film’s stars, most recently Punisher: War Zone lead Ray Stevenson, who plays the evil vampire Murlough in the film. ”[Director] Paul [Weitz] said earlier on, ‘I don’t want any Transylvania, I don’t want any references to others. This is a completely new take’,” Stevenson told Crave Online. ”Staying as true as much [as possible] to Darren Shan’s books. So we have a lot of fun with it.”
Ray doesn’t have any more idea when the film will be out than we do, but hopefully they’ll be smart and hold off for an October release date. Based on the series of novels by Darren Shan, Cirque du Freak is the story of a young boy who is sucked into the supernatural life of a traveling carnival by a mysterious vampire.
