Ghost House to Remake Danish Substitute

As if tapping into the works of the Koreans, Japanese and Spanish wasn’t enough, Hollywood is now setting its remake sights on the Danish. THR reports that Mandate Pictures has acquired the remake rights to Ole Bornedal’s The Substitute (review), which will be developed by the genreMandate helps run, Ghost House Pictures.

The Substitute is the tale of a sixth grade class whose new substitute teacher wants to train them for an international competition in Paris. Her uncanny ability to read minds, however, clues the kids in that something is amiss, and sure enough, she turns out to be an alien with some seriously nefarious intentions.

No word on who will direct the remake yet, but Ghost House Underground will be releasing the original on DVD come October 14th, so at least you’ll have a chance to check it out before we get our grubby American paws on it. Feel free to pre-order The Substitute through Evilshop!

Check out the original’s official site for a trailer, stills and more goodies. All in Danish, of course…
