STYD got to sit down with Candyman himself, Tony Todd, who agreed it was a pretty ridiculous idea but that it’s their prerogative as to what they want to do with the property. Of course, that’d mean a new Candyman would have to be found, and I’d just love to see them try and replace someone as iconic as Todd.
One of Todd’s agents is theorizing that all this remake talk may just be a way to gauge interest so Sony can move forward with something new. “Maybe we could put our heads together and do something modern…,” he told the site. “If they do it, I’m willing to do one more as a final payoff or good-bye. I wouldn’t just phone it in, I’d want to commit to it.”
It sure would be nice to see another sequel rather than a franchise reboot, as studios are so hip to call their remakes now, but only time will tell where all of this will go.
