Though Halloween costumes have come a long way in recent years, there’s just something incredibly charming about those old school plastic masks and smocks, isn’t there? Companies like Collegeville and Ben Cooper dominated the industry for years, and together they turned a small handful of horror icons into kid-friendly costumes.

But what if those companies were around today and still producing those delightfully corny costumes that paved the way for today’s movie quality output? Wouldn’t it be awesome to see the likes of Victor Crowley and Leslie Vernon done up in that retro style?

As many of you know, I used to run a horror blog called Freddy In Space, and I oftentimes worked with artist Frank Browning on fun little projects. Together, we’d come up with all sorts of crazy concepts, and back in 2012 it became an annual tradition to whip up images of faux Halloween masks, using the boxed costumes of old as inspiration.

Now that the Freddy In Space blog is no more, I wanted to share with you guys some of those faux costumes we made to give them new life here on the Eve of Halloween. So let’s take a trip into the world’s greatest costume shop, shall we?!
