Fantasia will be honoring Thai filmmakers Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom (the original Shutter as well as Alone), who will be guests at the festival to showcase the international premiere of their latest horror offering, 4bia (or “phobia”, if you read it right), an omnibus featuring four shorts from four different directors.
Banjong and Parkpook will also be at the Montreal premiere of Alone, which was supposed to play last year but got bumped, and the other two directors whose work is featured in 4bia, Yongyoot Thongkongtoon (he produced a bizarre romantic comedy that features a lead with three arms that will also play Fantasia this year) and Gunn Purijitpanya, will also be on hand. This is the first and possibly only time all four of these directors will be in one place in North America, so make sure you look for the 4bia premiere on the Fantasia schedule, which goes live on June 26th, so you don’t miss it! More info about 4bia can be found right here, if you’re curious.
In other Thai-horror goodness, Fantasia will also host the international premiere of Art of the Devil 3, the success of which in its home country promoted talk of a remake we “>told you about recently! Look for that on the schedule later this week as well, and keep it here for more Fantasia news very soon!
