First up is Whiteout (pictured), the Kate Beckinsale-starrer in which she plays an FBI agent in a race to find a serial killer before the town he’s stalking is plunged into month-long darkness. Icelandic composer Atli Orvarsson has signed on to create the score according to Upcoming Film Scores, coming off of composing music for Vantage Point, Babylon A.D., and a little film called Iron Man.
UFS also learned that Marco Beltrami (Captivity, The Eye, Cursed, Hellboy) will be creating the original music for that other movie about organ repossession, Repossession Mambo. The film was directed by Scott Struber and stars Jude Law and Forest Whitaker but doesn’t feature anyone singing like Bousman’s Repo! does…
Finally, Stephen Trask (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) has signed on to compose the music for Cirque du Freak, the Universal film about a boy who joins a traveling freakshow to become a vampire, according to UFS. Hedwig had some brilliant music so there’s a good chance Freak could find itself with a whole new identity if it plays those Trask cards right.
