“I cannot confirm any names,” Barker told Fangoria during a recent chat. “However, the new Hellraiser is happening, I know that much. I am going to have some sort of relationship to it, although what that is will depend on if the narrative is one that I can get my heart behind. My sense is that it will begin shooting later on this year.”
Oh, man, from so much excitement to “if my heart is behind it”. How sad is that?
In slightly better news, Barker also mentioned the long-awaited adaptation of The Thief of Always, which is set to be directed by Shrek 2 co-director Kelly Asbury. He’s had no contact with the script but believes it will be turned in to Fox within a month. ”At that point, we’ll find out if they like it or not.”
And what of The Scarlet Gospels, Barker’s long-awaited Harry D’Amour vs. Pinhead novel? ”At some point in the next three or four years, I will get The Scarlet Gospels finished,” he promised the mag. ”It is an epic book, but it is my farewell to the hell part of my life. It also completely transforms the character of Harry D’Amour, so it is a very important part of my own little private mythology.””
Wow … three or four years, people. That’s just insane, but his reasons are understandable. Hit the Fango link above to read more!
