Today Capcom announced that its upcoming re-issue of Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released episodically online. The episodes will then be combined into one full digital release alongside a retail disc-based version of the game.

Both the full version and the disc-based version will contain additional playable content.

The game will feature four episodes that will be released weekly. Capcom promises that each episode will end with “dramatic cliffhangers.”
The single episodes will cost $5.99 each with the full version of the game available for $24.99 digitally and $39.99 in stores.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will star Claire Redfield, survivor of the original Resident Evil. Alongside her will be Moira Burton, daughter of Resident Evil veteran Barry Burton. The two were kidnapped, only to awaken in a desolate detention facility.

With this release Capcom will be adding more fuel to the classic survival horror resurgence, as they were quick to point out that “players will need to use their ammo and weapon supply wisely in classic survival horror style.”  This release falls in line with recent and upcoming games The Last of Us Remastered, Metro: Redux, Daylight, and The Evil Within, all of which force gamers to play smart and conserve ammunition.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be available in early 2015.
