Robin Hardy’s newest picture titled Cowboys for Christ, which was to star Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward, was set to start photography this month. However, BBC News is reporting that the film’s shoots in Dumfries and Galloway have been shut down due to “financial difficulties.” This by no means indicates that the picture is dead, but it just has to secure funding and most likely will do so.
The plot for the film goes something like this: Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, both Christian members of a no-sex-before-marriage pact they call ‘the silver ring thing’, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland. When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of the sinister Lachlan Morrison, they assume their hosts want to simply hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are.
If you can’t wait for the film itself, why not head over to the official site for the book and pick up a copy?
