TLA Releasing announced the acquisition of Epitaph for distro here in the States with a small festival run planned before hitting theaters under TLA’s Danger After Dark label before the eventual DVD.
Epitaph is the directorial debut of The Jeong Brothers featuring three intersecting stories set in a Korean hospital during WWII. The stories involve a young intern who falls in love with a beautiful dead girl, a daughter attempting to deal with the ghastly visions of his mother after a car accident, and a young doctor who loses her shadow as her work begins piling up.
Usually when an Asian film does well elsewhere and finally makes it over here, there is a level of disappointment so I refuse to get too excited for this, but since TLA has good taste overall, it’s one to watch for.
Hey, at least they’re not remaking it! Yet…
