Gudino’s Case Tells Story With Single Image

You’ve heard the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words”, no? Well, filmmaker and former Rue Morgue editor-in-chief Rodrigo Gudino has taken that phrase to the next level with his latest short film “The Facts in the Case of Mister Hollow”.

Teaming up with visual artist Vincent Marcone (My Pet Skeleton), Gudino has created an entire narrative that is told through one single image. Is the poster on your right that image? Somehow I doubt it, but we can’t be sure yet.

The official plot goes like this: The visually stunning film centers on an unusual photograph dating back to the 1930s. An investigation of its particulars reveals a tapestry of secrets hidden in the details, and a tale of kidnapping and murder captured in a haunting moment.

A ballsy move, but then Gudino’s never been one to play it safe with either of his previous shorts, “The Eyes of Edward James” and “The Demonolgy of Desire”, so I’m not surprised he’s trying something very new. Hopefully we’ll see the results for ourselves soon enough!
