In all, 11 porcelain dolls were retrieved by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. As it turns out, the dolls were left by an elderly woman whose children had long since outgrown the dolls and she wanted to share them with families that could use them.
This brilliant “leave-the-dolls-that-resembled-the-children-living-in-the-homes” idea not only put an entire neighborhood in an uproar but launched a full-scale police investigation and wide ranging news coverage.
So, as it turns out, a gesture of kindness is greeted with police involvement and a full-scale media blitz. But can you blame the families involved? Porcelain dolls just scream psycho stalker, don’t they?
