In an interview with Radio Metal, Zombie was probed about the project, revealing that the film indeed does take place on October 31st, as many had speculated. But does it have anything to do with his past films, all of which have featured clown imagery similar to that seen on the teaser poster?
“All I can tell you is that it’s a completely original idea; it’s something new,” said Zombie. “It’s not based on anything. I’ll start shooting the movie in the fall. So hopefully starting from October, I’ll start shooting it. For right now I’m going to keep the details secret. But it’s not based on anything.”
Zombie went on to confirm that the film will feature a clown, but not one that we’ve ever seen before.
“There’s a clown thing in the movie, but it has nothing to do with Captain Spaulding,” he clarified. “And what is in the movie doesn’t look like Captain Spaulding either; maybe the people think the poster does, but the movie won’t.”
