Scott Derrickson’s new film Deliver Us From Evil has officially been rated R by the MPAA for “bloody violence, grisly images, terror throughout, and language.” Look for it in theatres on July 2nd.
New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Based upon the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
John Erick Dowdle’s As Above, So Below, which he co-wrote with his brother Drew (The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Quarantine, Devil), has also been handed an R rating for “bloody violence/terror and language throughout.” Look for that one in theatres on August 15.
