The Wrap reports that The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in early talks with Sony to direct Ghostbusters 3, though both they and Sony have declined to comment on this news at the moment.
Reitman stepped down in the wake of Harold Ramis’ passing, and he says that both he and Sony are incredibly happy with the Etan Cohen-penned script, which is cut from the same cloth as the original films.
The original Ghostbusters will have a very small role in the sequel, though Bill Murray is not expected to reprise his role as Peter Venkman and join former co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, who played Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, respectively.
Production could start as early as this fall, but it’s expected to begin early next year in New York.
Stay tuned.
