The Wrap reports that Damici and Mickle are once again teaming with Jon Lansdale for a television series set to air on the Sundance Channel based on the author’s long-running private investigator series Hap and Leonard. Lansdale was the writer of Cold in July, the novel that the pair’s upcoming film is based on.
In another bit of exciting news, it looks like Stake Land is going to sink its teeth into the small screen, as Mickle and Damici are developing a TV series based on the 2010 vampire film. The movie began as a potential web series, providing Damici, who wrote that film, a base of characters and expanded lore to develop for serialization.
The series will begin seven years after the end of the film and will involve many new species of vampires. Greg Newman, who executive produced the movie, is also involved.
“They all mutated; there’s tons of different vamps,” Damici explained. “I said to Greg, the only thing I’ll need — I’ll write my ass off — the only thing is I’ve got to have enough of a budget to have flying vamps. It spread to animals so we’ve got vamp dogs and a vamp bear.”
