Get set for your first look at Zella: Monster Martial Law.
Practical effects, be they giant rubber suits or a gallon of karo syrup, are almost always preferred to CGI, and Zella,, directed by Shingo Maehata, seems to be a labor of love for someone who holds this tradition so dear. Clocking in at a mere 41 minutes and inspired by Godzilla, Gamera, and stop-motion guru Ray Harryhausen, production on the film was assisted by Hiromasa Mitsudome, who worked as special effects supervisor on the “Ultraman” TV series.
Check out the teaser below for a quick glimpse at the monstrous and demon-like kaiju Zella as he battles the cyborg Isoroku. When it’s complete, the film will be subtitled and released online so we can all join in on the kaiju fun.
