As executive producer Tim Minear told TV Guide (who also landed the first look at LuPone below), the Broadway star will portray Joan Ramsey, “someone who will go up against [Jessica Lange’s supreme witch] Fiona and her daughter, Cordelia [Sarah Paulson].”
Ramsey becomes a thorn in the women’s sides when she and her sexy son move next door to Fiona’s boarding school for young witches. “Patti’s character is a bit of a holy roller who has recently lost her husband under suspicious circumstances,” Minear added.
When asked which woman fans should be putting their money on when the battle begins, Lange, who has known LuPone for years, said, “Oooh. I’m in awe of Patti, but that’s tough to call.”
