First, per TVLine, we have “Sex and the City” alum Cynthia Nixon (pictured right and below left) joining “Hannibal” in the recurring role of Kade Prurnell, an employee of the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight who is investigating the events of the first season and Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) culpability with regard to FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) winding up in jail.
The other two roles are being filled by ex-Truebies as Carrie Preston (below center) heads to “The Following” (per E! Online) for a guest turn as Judy, serial killer Joe Carroll’s most loyal groupie; and Janina Gavankar (below right) gives Mystic Falls and “The Vampire Diaries” an infusion of fresh blood as Tessa, whom executive producer Caroline Dries described to TV Guide as “a beautiful and exotic self-assured woman who comes to town to rekindle an old flame.”
Teasing that she could be burning for Stefan or Silas, who has assumed the younger Salvatore brother’s form (both played by Paul Wesley), Dries added ominously, “Tessa has a definite flair for fun, but she has a tendency to hold a grudge. You don’t want to cross her.” Check out an early (tiny) look at Gavankar from “TVD” below, and look for lots more on all three shows soon.
