According to THR, Samantha Barks (pictured; Les Miserables), Icelandic star Thor Kristjansson, and “Game of Thrones” actor Art Parkinson have joined the cast of Universal’s Dracula with “Boardwalk Empire” actor Charlie Cox.
Barks will play a figure in Eastern European folk tales known as a baba yaga, a beautiful young woman who turns into a savage witch. Kristjansson will play Bright Eyes, an Eastern European taken as a slave as a young boy and now a vicious assassin in the Ottoman Army. Parkinson will play Dracula’s son, named Ingeras.
They join the previously announced Luke Evans (Dracula) in the flick along with Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, and Zach McGowan. Look for Dracula in theatres on August 8, 2014. Universal’s dramatic horror movie tells the origin story of the most famous of vampires. Michael De Luca is producing the project, and commercials helmer Gary Shore is making his directorial debut on the picture.
The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them and in the process becomes the first vampire.
More as it comes.
