We announced DREAD’s upcoming action-horror release Island Escape last week, and now First Showing has scored a look at the epic trailer for summer’s deadliest getaway. In select theaters on August 4th and VOD on August 8th, this new dimension in terror is serving equal parts Annihilation and Day of the Dead. So what’s not to love? Check out the trailer for the new film below.

In Island Escape, after a mysterious accident at a research camp on the Isle of Gran Manan, a CEO hires a team of blue-collar mercenaries to extract his daughter, a scientist working at the camp. Upon arrival, the team soon learns that not only is the island surrounded by a wormhole that causes time to reset every three days, but it’s also crawling with hideous monsters. As they learn more about the nature of time, space, and the creatures on the island, they quickly realize that death may be the easiest way to escape the island.

Bruce Wemple wrote and directed the title. If his name is familiar, that might be because he also helmed Epic Pictures’ recent time-traveler thriller The Tomorrow Job.

Island Escape is executive produced by Epic Pictures and DREAD CEO Patrick Ewald and Cole Payne, the owner of the genre label Traverse Terror. The film stars Ariella Mastroianni (My Best Friend’s Dead), James Liddell (Two Ways to Go West), Grant Schumacher (The Retreat), and Chris Cimperman (Novel Love).

Island Escape hits select US theaters on August 4th and VOD everywhere starting August 8th. A Blu-Ray also arrives in September. Are you excited to check this one out? Let us know on Twitter via @DreadCentral. We’re always around to chat about all things DREAD!
