From Monstrous Books comes Dead Detectives Society, a one-of-a-kind horror anthology edited by acclaimed writer and editor James Aquilone. The anthology features a cover by Hugo Award-winner John Jennings and interior art by Zac Atkinson, J.K. Woodward, and Jennings. Dread Central is excited to announce the first two contributors, both incredibly well-known in the world of comics.

First is Kevin J. Anderson, a New York Times bestselling sci-fi author who co-wrote the Dune prequel novels with Brian Herbert. His character Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I.—who has appeared in nine novels and dozens of short stories by Anderson—will feature Anderson’s contribution to the anthology. Shamble fans can also get excited for a whole new novel following the zombie investigator, which you can support here.

Second is Steve Niles, known for writing the vampire classic 30 Days Of Night . His occult detective Cal McDonald will also get his own story in Dead Detectives Society. McDonald first appeared in the 1990 comic anthology Fly in My Eye: Daughters of Fly In My Eye. Since then, McDonald has appeared in both comics and more traditional novels, solving creepy mysteries while taking as many drugs as he can fit into his body.

According to Aquilone, “Dead Detectives Society is a group of supernatural investigators. Throughout history and over countless dimensions, its members have taken the strangest and most bizarre cases. They are zombies and ghosts, ghouls and vampires and werewolves. Uncanny and uncategorized P.I.s. And they’ll all be collected in this one-of-a-kind anthology and future anthologies.”
