‘Doctor Strange 2’ — Sam Raimi Unlocks The Secrets Of The Multiverse In New Interview [Video]

“It’s pretty unfathomably exciting,” shares Doctor Strange himself in a video featurette for Marvel’s forthcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. The latest video interview courtesy of Fandango presents a whole new perspective on the most horror-infused Marvel project … maybe ever? Terror master Sam Raimi is also present in the feature to express his excitement about the new film.

“Telling these stories was such a gigantic endeavor” shared the director as he discussed his latest directorial effort for Marvel. Raimi got his feet wet as a director by creating the Evil Dead franchise, one of the most important and celebrated works within the horror canon. The filmmaker would also create the original trilogy of Spiderman films for Marvel in the early 2000s. Now he returns to the studio with a dark new vision of madness.

“It was a great opportunity to pair two of the most powerful superheroes together,” Raimi continued with glee. And he’s not wrong. The new film features both Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, two of the most dangerous and all-powerful forces in the cinematic world of Marvel. After seeing what Scarlet Witch was capable of in last year’s WandaVision, I can’t wait to see what fresh chaos these two unleash in the upcoming sequel.

Raimi also adds, “we wanted to give the fans what they wanted, but not exactly what they expected”. Last year Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron told the Marvel podcast Friends From Work that his film had gotten scarier even since Sam Raimi took over from Scott Derrickson. While we can’t wait to see Derrickson’s forthcoming Joe Hill adaptation of The Black Phone, this tidbit only further whets my excitement for the new Doctor Strange film.
