Deadline reports that as part of a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios, Charles McDougall (“Desperate Housewives,” “The Tudors,” “The Good Wife”) will direct and executive produce “The Returned,” which is co-produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Written by Aaron Zelman, it is based on the upcoming novel by Jason Mott.
“The Returned” chronicles how the lives of the people in Arcadia are forever changed when their deceased loved ones return. (The project’s original location, Aurora, was changed out of respect for the victims of the Aurora, Colorado, shooting)
Additionally, TV Guide has learned that CBS has ordered the hourlong drama pilot “Anatomy of Violence,” which will be executive produced by the “Homeland” team of Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa, and Alex Cary. It revolves around a criminal psychologist and expert on sociopaths who partners with a young female detective with whom he shares a conflicted past.
We’re not sure how Dread-worthy either of these shows will end up being but thought we’d keep you in the loop on all the potential genre projects heading our way on the small screen.
