A short while ago we learned that “True Blood” is adding some human politics (vs. vampire) to the mix by casting Arliss Howard as the Governor of Louisiana. Well, he’s gained a daughter, and the show has also added a new “do-gooder” character as a regular.

Per TVLine, Jurnee Smollett (pictured left below; “Friday Night Lights,” “Do No Harm”) will play Nicole, the aforementioned do-gooder, who possesses the rosy outlook of someone that life hasn’t beaten down yet. She’s not concerned with money and more concerned with doing what’s right.

Amelia Rose Blaire (pictured right below; “90210”) will recur as Willa, the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (played by Howard). She has long clashed with her father over vampire rights.

The show returns in June. For more info visit “True Blood” on HBO.com, “like” “True Blood” on Facebook, and jump in on the Twitter conversations here using the hashtag #trueblood.
