That’s the news we’ve got today, as Scott, along with Scott Free London, has inked a deal with Focus Features International and Orchard Media to produce six science fiction / horror films over the course of three years.
“Our target is to create a structure that enables filmmakers to push boundaries and to excite audiences,” said Scott. “Our proposed model of filmmaking allows us to give helmers the opportunity to really innovate through narrative, production techniques and distribution strategies.”
“There’s an appetite and market for high-concept low-budget films,” added Focus Features’ prexy of international sales and distribution Alison Thompson. “That, combined with Ridley Scott’s pedigree, will be very attractive to international buyers.”
What’s really great about this venture is that it sounds like these folks are going to be committed to putting some new and interesting content into an increasingly boring market. As long as there’s no found footage, I’m in.
So stay tuned, folks; this could be good.
