Scream Factory will complete Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead trilogy in 4K Ultra soon when they (finally) bring Army of Darkness (Evil Dead III) to the format in the future.

@Professoewho42 tweeted the company is working on a 4K restoration for an upcoming 4K Ultra HD release – even though a 4K master doesn’t yet exist.

He tweets: “[We] will be putting out Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) on UHD. Now the original trilogy will be complete on UHD.”

Check out his tweet below.

As you can see, no release date is given. But we will make sure to stay on top of this as it develops and pass along updates as we hear them. Stay Tuned!

Directed by Raimi from a script co-written by Ivan Raimi, the flick is produced by Robert Tapert and Campbell and finds Ash transported back to medieval days, where he is captured by the dreaded Lord Arthur. Aided by his deadly chainsaw, Ash is sent on a perilous mission to recover the Book of the Dead, a powerful tome that gives its owner the power to summon an army of ghouls.

The film sports a 73% over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Army of Darkness is a madcap adventure worth taking thanks to Bruce Campbell’s hammy charm and Sam Raimi’s acrobatic direction, although an intentional lack of shocks make this a discordant capper to the Evil Dead franchise.
