Machete Kills Edward James Olmos

Well, we don’t know that for sure, but given the kinds of bloodbaths the character known as Machete has been involved with in the past, it’s a pretty damned good bet. Read on for the latest casting news for Robert Rodriguez’s next grindhouse inspired epic.

Omelete reports that Edward James Olmos (pictured; “Battlestar Galactica,” “Dexter”) has landed an undisclosed role in Machete Kills, the sequel that Rodriguez hopes to solo direct this time around.

Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Zoe Saldana, and of course Danny Trejo all star in Robert Rodriguez’s sequel which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Machete Kills finds the titular ex-federale (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. Mel Gibson is set to co-star as Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a missile.
