Composer Ennio Morricone (John Carpenter’s The Thing) died in Rome following complications from a fall last week which broke his femur.
He was 91.
Born on November 10, 1928 in Rome, he scored more than 500 films including Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven, and Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables. Not to mention Sergio Leone’s classic westerns such as A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West.
His other horror films include John Boorman’s Exorcist II: The Heretic and Mike Nichols’s Wolf with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.
