Candyman, directed by Nia DaCosta, was supposed to be released last week, but was postponed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, the themes explored in the reboot/”spiritual sequel” have never been more timely. Today, DaCosta released a new, stylized Candyman featurette. Give it a spin and read more about Candyman below.

Synopsis:
A “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 horror film ‘Candyman’ that returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began.

Candyman is produced and co-written by Jordan Peele; the film stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. It’s currently slated to arrive in US theaters on September 25th.

The first Candyman movie was released in 1992; that film was directed by Bernard Rose and is based on the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker.
