Netflix has ordered eight episodes of a new series based on DC Vertigo and Jeff Lemire’s “Mad Max meets Bambi” comic Sweet Tooth. Cold in July and Stakeland director Jim Mickle will write, exec produce, and co-showrun, with Beth Schwartz.
Christian Convery (Venom, Playing with Fire), Nonso Anozie (The Laundromat), Adeel Akhtar (Les Misérables) and Will Forte (MacGruber, The Last Man on Earth) star with James Brolin (The Amityville Horror) as the voice of the narrator.
A pilot was previously ordered by Hulu in 2018 but the never moved forward.
Sweet Tooth follows the adventures of Gus — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.
Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, and Amanda Burrell will exec produce while Linda Moran and Evan Moore produce. Are you excited? Make sure to hit us up and let us know in the comments below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
