Originally Adam Robitel’s Escape Room 2 was set to hit on April 17. Then August 14. Then December 30. Then January 1, 2021. Now ComicBook.com reports it’s back to December 30.
Whatever at this point.
Escape Room stars Taylor Russell and Logan Miller return for the sequel along with franchise newcomers Holland Roden (Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block), Indya Moore (Pose), Thomas Cocquerel (The 100), Carlito Olivero (Step Up: High Water), and Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan).
The original film centered on six strangers who travel to a mysterious building to experience the escape room — a game where players compete to solve a series of puzzles to win $10,000. What starts out as seemingly innocent fun soon turns into a living nightmare as the four men and two women discover each room is an elaborate trap that’s part of a sadistic game of life or death.
The film sports a 50% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Escape Room fails to unlock much of the potential in its premise, but what’s left is still tense and thrilling enough to offer a passing diversion for suspense fans.
