According to Variety, Abigail Breslin will continue to explore darker material as she’s set to join Halle Berry in Troika Pictures’ thriller The Hive.
Anderson is directing from a script by Rich D’Ovidio, based on an original story by Nicole D’Ovidio, Jon Bokencamp and the scribe. Set against the backdrop of a 911 call center, the suspense pic finds Berry playing an emergency operator who must face her own fears in order to save a teenage girl (Breslin) from a disturbed killer.
“Abigail is always wonderful playing vulnerable characters so I feel really lucky to have her for this role,” said Anderson.
Robert Stein and Michael Helfant will produce for Troika Pictures, whose Bradley Gallo will co-produce. Jeff Graup will also produce, while Philip M. Cohen and William C. Gallo will exec produce. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has domestic rights, with foreign sales being handled by Sierra/Affinity. Production is scheduled to start in late June in Los Angeles.
