Rachel Chavkin is making her feature film directorial debut on the remake after winning a Tony last year for Best Direction of a Musical for some play called Hadestown. I have not seen it.

Macarena Gómez received a Goya nomination for her role in the original version, which was produced by Spanish horror master Alex de la Iglesia (The Baby’s Room, Witching & Bitching).

The thriller is reminiscent of Misery and Black Swan and is set in Spain during the 1950s. It follows an agoraphobic woman who raises her younger sister in an apartment locked away from the world. But one day, a reckless young neighbor, Carlos, falls down the stairwell and drags himself to their door. Someone has entered the shrew’s nest, and it doesn’t look like he’s leaving.

Weed Road & Gotham Group are producing this remake. Are you excited? What did you think of the original? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
