“It’s not your grandfather’s television, there’s more flexibility,” Garris told STYD recently. “Even better is Lionsgate wants to do uncut versions of every episode so when the DVDs come out, each disc will be five to seven minutes longer with uncensored material.”
Cutting out some of the gory bits may prove to be the easiest aspect of Fear Itself, considering he’s now got to impress a much broader audience. ”It’s not only censorship issues in this competitive arena of TV we face, we have storytelling challenges where we have to fit forty-three minutes or so to be able to make it work.”
A veteran of making horror for network television, with admittedly varied results, Garris is up for the challenge. He didn’t reveal any names as to who would be involved but did mention that another Masters dinner went down recently in LA that was very productive.
We’ll have more on Fear Itself in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
