You see, that was the atmospheric disturbance when the deal was made official for the Weinstein Company to buy George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead at the Toronto International Film Festival. As you may recall the film made its debut there and, if you’ve seen any reviews online (sorry, we didn’t have anyone there; very sad) it pretty much blew everyone away.
The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that several offers were on the table for Diary, but Romero and crew went with the one that guaranteed a theatrical run which is awesome for him and the movie, but could be very iffy when it comes to Dimension. We’ll keep positive and hope the Brothers Weinstein treat it with the respect it deserves.
Other horror tales up for sale include Mother of Tears, which both Magnolia and the Weinsteins are looking at, and Stuart Gordon’s Stuck, which might find its home with Dark Horse.
Be sure to check out brand-new stuff from Diary of the Dead at its MySpace page and keep it here for more release details as the Weinsteins announce them!
