Los Angeles’ genre film festival Beyond Fest has revealed the full slate of this year’s program and, as usual, it’s packed with cinematic goodies that will delight local genre fans! Combining screenings of new films – under a variety of premiere statuses – alongside retrospective screenings, this fest is a celebration of genre cinema and its history.
Included this year will be the West Coast premiere of Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space with director Richard Stanley in attendance. Also playing the fest is another Spectrevision offering in the form of Adam Egypt Mortimer’s Daniel Isn’t Real, which has been sweeping awards at festivals like BIFAN and Popcorn Frights.
Also playing will be a Tom Atkins triple bill marathon that includes John Carpenter’s The Fog, 1986’s Night of the Creeps, and the fantastic Halloween III: Season of the Witch. There will also be a reunion screening of Natural Born Killers with director Oliver Stone and stars Woody Harrelson, Juliette Lewis, as well as producer Don Murphy. Karyn Kusama will be in attendance alongside Megan Fox for a reunion screening of Jennifer’s Body.
