The first bit of casting news for the remake of the 1981 Sam Raimi film The Evil Dead has made its way online, and we’ve got the skinny on what fresh-faced actor is getting set to be all bloodied up and violated by a long sleeping Candarian demon.

According to Bloody Disgusting Lily Collins (pictured right; The Blind Side, Priest, Mirror Mirror) is in final negotiations to play “Mia” in FilmDistrict’s reboot aiming for release on April 12th, 2013.

UPDATE
BD has just confirmed that Mia is the LEAD and is (sort of) the female version of Ashley J. Williams (Ash), portrayed by Bruce Campbell in the original trilogy.

Fede Alvarez directs the redo of Raimi’s cult classic 1981 from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody. In this version, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival.
