Even while almost everyone everywhere is on vacation, Geeks Worldwide had fans across the globe plugging in their laptops with news that Bill Murray will return for a cameo in Zombieland 2. You may recall, in the original Zombieland, Murry plays himself. We learn he’s been surviving the apocalypse by looking and acting like a zombie—a tactic that works too well when he’s dispatched by a main character who doesn’t know better.
Don’t give me guff about spoilers; the movie is over 9-years-old!
If reports are true, Murry will be resurrected for another cameo in Zombieland 2 (which is also reuniting the original’s writer, director, and core-cast) and he’s bringing his Ghostbusters costar Dan Aykroyd along for the ride. Take the news with a grain of salt, because (at the time of posting) we don’t have a lick of corroborating evidence.
Of course, there are dozens of ways Murry could return to Zombieland: In a flashback, a dream/nightmare, in a film within the film—or even as an actual zombie. Time will tell. Look for Zombieland 2 to hit US theaters in time for Halloween on October 11th. If it’s been a while, you can give the trailer and synopsis for 2009’s Zombieland a spin below.
Synopsis:
After a virus turns most people into
zombies, the world’s surviving humans remain locked in an ongoing battle
against the hungry undead. Four survivors — Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and
his cohorts Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock
(Abigail Breslin) — abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing
strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles.
