While it’s uncertain if Carpenter will return as a producer on any future Halloween movie, but he’d at least be down to score another. Here’s what he told Consequence of Sound:

Though a sequel hasn’t been officially greenlit, it seems like a no-brainer for Blumhouse and Universal. If you missed this year’s Halloween while it was in theaters, you can own it on Blu-ray/DVD this January 15th. Give the synopsis and trailer a spin below.
Synopsis:
It’s been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, Ill. — but this time, she’s ready for him.
David Gordon Green directed Halloween from a script he cowrote with his frequent collaborator Danny McBride; the film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak.
