It turns out, A24 has given Slice the same treatment The Cloverfield Paradox got: It’s been dropped on VOD and On Demand without any warning and (as opposed to a film released immediately following the Super Bowl) extremely little fanfare. While I’m not complaining about getting Slice sooner than I expected, I have to wonder if the move reflects a lack of confidence on the part of A24.
This means, of course, that Slice won’t be coming soon to select theaters near you. According to The Wrap, who broke the news:
A24 hosted a premiere for Slice in Chance’s hometown of Chicago, along with simulcast screenings in 20 additional cities across the country. Alas, as of right now, that’s all the big screen time the movie will see. A24 has no plans to release Slice in additional theaters.
Slice is written and directed by Austin Vesely; besides Chance, the film stars Zazie Beetz, Hannibal Buress, and Joe Keery. You can check out the synopsis and trailer below.
Synopsis:
When a pizza delivery driver is murdered on the job, the city searches for someone to blame: ghosts? drug dealers? a disgraced werewolf?
