Since Final Destination 5 is doing its damnedest to wash away the bad memory of the last installment (and for our own Heather Wixson it has), we thought that you might be interested in what some of the other critics are saying about the movie.
In her Dread Central review of Final Destination 5, Heather said that:
“Final Destination 5 is not only gruesomely entertaining, but it has managed to breathe new life into the franchise, making a huge fan out of me all over again.”
She’s not alone. A few of the other critics like it too:
Scott Bowles, USA Today: “3-D is employed the way it should be: with jump-out-of-your-seat scares. Impaled victims, licking flames, shattering glass — horror may have found a home in the third dimension.”
Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle: “Final Destination 5 is irresistible, and the reason it’s irresistible is that it speaks to us in the language we all understand, which is fear.
However, Mike Hale of The New York Times wasn’t too impressed: “The deaths, which tend to be squirmy rather than explosive, are so perfunctory and lazily jokey that they leave a decidedly bad aftertaste.”
