RIP Sherman Torgan

Sherman Torgan was like Hollywood’s rock. An industry staple if you will. Ever the showman, he founded and ran the last remaining full-time revival theatre in Los Angeles, The New Beverly Cinema, which has become famous (or infamous depending on who you ask) for their double bills of true Grindhouse cinema and genre classics.

Sadly, Sherman died Wednesday of a heart attack while bicycling in Santa Monica. He was 63 and taken well before his time. We here at Dread Central wish to offer our sincerest condolences to Sherman’s family, friends, and constituents.

Rest in Peace, Sherman, and thank you.
