Moving Monsters

While I’m just as excited as the next guy to see how James Cameron follows up the untouchable success of Titanic with his 3D live action/CG hybrid Aavatar, luckily I won’t have to miss it opening weekend because its competition just moved out of the way.

Who would dare compete with Cameron? Shrek 2 director Conrad Vernon and a movie called Monsters Vs. Aliens, according to Variety. The film is a send-up of and homage to 50’s monster flicks but will be filmed in the brand new stereoscopic 3D, the first Dreamworks release to make that claim. And I do love me some monsters and aliens…

Originally both films were set to come out on May 22nd, 2009, but today it was announced by Dreamworks that Monsters Vs. Aliens will be moving up one week, debuting on May 15th instead. Sure it’s almost two years away, but its never to early to set aside a date, is it?
