It’s been quite some time since we last heard anything about Ridley Scott’s adaptation of the four Red Riding books by David Pearce (which were previously turned into a trilogy of UK films by three different directors – review here), but now news has come of a new writer signing on to the project.
The four Red Riding books are set in 1974, 1977, 1980, and 1983 and track the disappearance and grisly murders of several young girls as well as police corruption in a British town. They follow a large cast consisting of a journalist, a solicitor, a reverend, a male prostitute, a businessman, many police officers, and assorted wives and lovers. From what we heard previously, the setting of Scott’s film will be transferred from Britain to the U.S.
Look for more soon (or at least as soon as Scott’s done with Prometheus), and in the meantime check out the books and film trilogy via the EvilShop below.
