There’s Going to be Another Invasion of the Body Snatchers Remake

Warner Bros. has tapped David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) to pen a script for another remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, according to Deadline. This marks the fifth time that Jack Finney’s 1955 sci-fi novel The Body Snatchers is getting a film treatment, the first occurring in 1956, the second (and perhaps most famous iteration) in 1978, the third in 1993 as Body Snatchers, and the fourth in 2007 as The Invasion.

No other news about the film has been released but it’s still in the early stages, so it might be a little while before we hear anything more.

In the meantime, how about we discuss how this film is now one of the most remade films of all time? Sound off below on why you think that might be. Is it because of the potential for social commentary? Is it because of xenophobic fear of assimilation? Or is there something else at work here?
