He’s survived the war in The Hurt Locker and will be battling vampires in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Doesn’t it makes sense that star Anthony Mackie join the fight against the flesh-hungry living dead? Yeah, we think so too.

Variety is reporting that Mackie (pictured right) received an offer to star opposite Brad Pitt in the big screen PG-13 rated adaptation of World War Z.

Marc Forster is directing the big-budget movie while Pitt and his Plan B shingle are producing. The novel is set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic and is an oral history told from many perspectives around the world. J. Michael Straczynski and Matt Carnahan wrote the script.

Pitt is playing a U.N. worker. An offer is also out to Mireille Enos (“Big Love”, “The Killing”) to play his wife, a mother of two girls. The movie is scheduled to begin shooting in June in London, Malta and other locales around the world.
