The Apes Rise to a New Title – Rise of the Planet of the Apes

It’s gone through several different titles thus far from meh to not too shabby, but it looks as if the latest entry into the much beloved Planet of the Apes franchise has officially found its identity.

/Film reports that the flick starring Andy Serkis as Ceasar, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and David Hewlett will now be known as Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Yeah. We dig it.

Set in San Francisco, Rise of the Planet of the Apes revolves around man’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to a dramatic increase in the intelligence of apes and the onset of war for supremacy. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.

Look for Rise of the Planet of the Apes in theatres on August 5th, 2011.
