James Wan to Produce Resident Evil Reboot

It was only yesterday we posted that, after six entries, Germany’s Constantin Film would be rebooting the Resident Evil film franchise with a new six-film run. Now it’s come out via Deadline that James Wan will be producing the first of these films, which is going to be based on a script by Greg Russo, who wrote the upcoming Mortal Kombat adaptation (which Wan is also producing). The film will also apparently feature a brand new cast. No director for the project has been announced.

Wan is incredibly busy being a producer these days, getting behind projects such as Mortal Kombat, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, Insidious: Chapter 4 and is an executive producer on the upcoming Saw: Legacy. Even though he’s directing Aquaman for the DC cinematic universe, it seems like he’s happy keeping one foot firmly planted in horror!
